Please review your pet's AFTER SURGERY CARE instructions before arriving to pick-up your pet.

Post-surgery Instructions

Picking up your dog
  • Prior to pick-up, please review the post-op care instructions for your pet and watch the video. We'd be happy to answer any questions you may have upon pick-up.
  • Discharge for dogs begins at 4pm the same day as surgery. Please remain in your car.
  • At 4:00pm, we will begin texting people to come up to the building.  You will be texted in alphabetical order, by last name.
    • Should you not respond promptly to our text, we will proceed to the next person in our list.  We will text you again once we have reached the bottom of the list.  Note that there is a late fee if you arrive after we have finished the discharge process for all clients.
  • Bring your dog's leash. For their safety, all dogs must leave on a leash. Even if being carried.
  • You will be asked to pay any outstanding balances at this time.
  • You will be given a copy of your pet’s medical record from their visit to the clinic, as well as after-hours emergency instructions and a printed copy of our post-operative care instructions.
  • ​A member of our staff will call you the morning after surgery to check on your dog. ​​

  • Cat discharge begins promptly at 7:30am the morning AFTER surgery. Please remain in your car.
  • At 7:30am, we will begin texting people to come up to the building.  You will be texted in alphabetical order, by last name.​​
    • Should you not respond promptly to our text, we will proceed to the next person in our list.  We will text you again once we have reached the bottom of the list. Note that there is a late fee if you arrive after we have finished the discharge process for all clients.
    • Patient admission begins at 8am. If you arrive after intake has begun, please approach the building and indicate that you are here to pick-up your pet, and there may be an extended wait.
  • You will be asked to pay any outstanding balances at this time.
  • You will be given a copy of your pet’s medical record from their visit to the clinic, as well as after-hours emergency instructions and a printed copy of our post-operative care instructions.
  • ​A member of our staff will call you the morning after surgery to check on your cat. 

Should you have any questions or concerns at any time, please call us at 313-451-8200 and leave a message, and make sure to mention that your dog just had surgery.  We will respond as soon as possible.​
